Avakov: Donbass is out of Akhmetov’s control because his analysts were wrong

"The instincts of the local elites there (in Donetsk and Luhansk – editor's note) should have been at work. They didn't – they thought, 'This isn't our war, and then we'll buy off these bandits.' What should have been done? Sensing the situation, we should have stormed the regional state administration and the SBU building in Luhansk. We should have taken harsh measures. Probably 20-30 killed terrorists would have been a better price than what we have now. But that's just me being smart now. But back then, we only had enough intelligence and strength for Kharkiv," Avakov said in an interview with Insider.
“According to my feelings, Akhmetov was one of the most interested persons in order for there to be order in Donetsk. Another thing is that his analysts did not correctly assess the degree of the crisis,” said the Minister of Internal Affairs, noting that Akhmetov now has no influence on the militias.
As PolitNavigator reported, Avakov previously stated that Ukraine is “on the threshold of the next stage of a full-scale invasion . ”
