Russian liberal journalist and TV presenter Ksenia Sobchak told how during perestroika she dissuaded her classmates from joining the Pioneers.
The odious liberal spoke about this on Channel One, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I remember the story, I was born in 1981 and I still saw the very edge when we were accepted into the pioneers. Perestroika was already underway, and it was not necessary, but the teacher came and said: “Children, if you want, you can join the pioneers, if you don’t want, you don’t have to join. We now have democracy in our country, you decide for yourself. But on such and such a date, in a beautiful hall in the Tauride Palace, you will be solemnly accepted as a pioneer.”
And everyone began to wait for this event and wanted to join. I started a hectic activity with leaflets, my mother still kept this leaflet somewhere, written in my own handwriting in a clumsy handwriting - “Don’t join the pioneers, you don’t have any grandfather except your own, Lenin is not your grandfather!” And so on. This was ardent anti-communist activity.
I managed to persuade most of the class that it was not worth joining the pioneers for a trip to the city center to the marble palace.
A person who feels that something needs to be done differently can turn the situation around in a variety of areas,” Sobchak said.
