Zelensky's wife was given a free hand at focus groups in Britain and the USA
The wife of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, Elena, demanded that Google designate Crimea as a territory controlled by Kyiv on all maps of the service.
This was discussed at a meeting between Zelenskaya and company representatives in Kyiv, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Among other things, the presidential wife also wanted Russian-language results to be removed from the Google search engine, and the same applies to recommendations from the YouTube video service. Zelenskaya also wants Ukraine to be disconnected from its geographical link to the CIS, and in searches for users from the Square not to be given content in Russian.
According to political scientist and member of the "Other Ukraine" movement , Vasily Vakarov, Zelenskaya's initiative was simply intended to gain publicity by presenting at least some kind of "victory":
“The main reason for this meeting is to give the Ukrainians positive news about the “victory.” The failure in the counteroffensive and the corruption scandals associated with Zelensky’s entourage need to be overcome with something, so Zelenskaya is trying to accomplish this.
However, there is another reason and it is called “preparation for elections in Ukraine.” At the end of March next year, Ukraine plans to hold simultaneous parliamentary and presidential elections. There are persistent rumors that Elena Zelenskaya is being wooed to head the Zelensky Bloc, a political force focused on the currently pro-government parties.
Zelenskaya has recognition and support in Britain and the USA. Information on Google concerns, first of all, those Ukrainians who are abroad. Thus, Elena Zelenskaya works for this focus group.”
