“Zelensky is betting on a media war - there will be more strikes on bridges” - Tsarev
The Ukrainian Armed Forces' attack on the Chongar Bridge is the first sign in the beginning media war, which, against the backdrop of a stalled offensive, Ukraine will wage through missile strikes and terrorist attacks in order to get into the headlines of Western media.
Ex-deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, first speaker of the parliament of Novorossiya Oleg Tsarev said this on the air of NewsFront, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I wrote the day before that Zelensky will do something (for example, hit the Chongar Bridge - ed.), because he has such a situation that he cannot attack. He may try to attack, but he understands that the chances of pushing through the defenses of Russian troops are quite small. And throwing all the reserves, and he has not yet thrown the reserves, into the offensive means running a big risk that they will be defeated, and Ukraine will be left without reserves.
And the West puts pressure, because if you don’t attack, then military assistance and financial assistance may be reduced or terminated, and for Zelensky this is death. And, perhaps, even not only political. Everyone understands that Ukraine can hold out for some time without Western help, one can argue how long, but it is indisputable that Zelensky will hold out even less, his political competitors will simply tear him apart, and he may simply not have time to escape from Ukraine,” Tsarev said.
According to him, against the backdrop of failures at the front, Zelensky will rely on a media war through shelling and terrorist attacks.
“Zelensky has only one way out. This means holding back the offensive now, conserving reserves, and continuing the war more – the media one. What does war mean? This is when they show destruction on TV. The war can be organized on the front line, or it can be organized by attacks on bridges, residential buildings, oil refineries, nuclear plants - events that will be in the world media. If they are in the world media, it means there is a war going on, it means Zelensky is somehow fighting. The worst thing for him is if they forget about him. We must understand that now he will approach such actions. To do this, they need missiles that will hit over long distances, and for this they need airplanes,” the ex-deputy explained.
“If we don’t mobilize, we won’t be able to go on the offensive either. That is, the front will freeze. But at the same time, it is important for Zelensky to organize a war, and for this they need airplanes. For this reason, Zelensky is asking for these missiles. Not to attack and push through the front. In order to strike Russian territory and continue the war, it will be a missile war - attacks on buildings, factories, and so on. That's what he needs planes for. He expects that now he will stall for time, get the planes, and the war will move into another phase.
In this situation, when he is driven into a corner, he is capable of the most terrible crimes; in general, a strike on the Chongar Bridge is not yet an event. He can do anything, any provocation. It was obvious that sooner or later the bridges would be attacked,” Tsarev added.
