Zelensky: We need to be realistic - we won’t see NATO yet
Ukraine may not even hope to join NATO until the war against Russia is over.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky stated this during a joint press conference with the prime ministers of the Netherlands and Belgium, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have received positive messages from some countries that already support Ukraine’s accession to NATO. I am confident that our friends support us, and we will be in NATO in the future,” the president said.
“But in any case, we need to be realistic. We understand that during the war no one will take us into NATO. But we want to hear clear messages that as soon as the war is over, Ukraine can count on NATO membership,” the Ukrainian president said.
