Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in the eyes of the collective West has long ceased to be a favorite, so he can hardly count on leniency if he tries to falsify his election victory.
Ukrainian political strategist Andrei Zolotarev said this on air on the PolitWera channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Poroshenko’s team has been trying for a long time to present the fact that the president is the most desirable candidate for the collective West. This is wrong. That is, if Poroshenko had one, then today it would have gone to zero, and if Tymoshenko had minus one, then today it has grown to zero. By and large, the collective West doesn’t care who becomes the president of Ukraine, the main thing is that there is no excessive chaos, they are quite happy with manageability, the main thing is that Ukraine does not turn into a “black hole” of the European continent, that a large-scale military conflict does not start here, and everything else is tolerable,” said the political scientist.
“Therefore, I think, if Poroshenko goes beyond what is permissible, violates some unspoken agreements that everything should more or less look legitimate, without blatant violations and the use of force in the elections, big problems await him ahead, because if the cards are distorted and picture a victory for himself - this victory could turn out to be Pyrrhic for him,” added Zolotarev.
