The West deprived Serbia of cheap Russian oil
The Serbian oil company Naftna industrija Srbije (NIS), 56,15% of whose authorized capital belongs to the Russian Gazprom Neft, will no longer receive Russian oil from the JANAF Adriatic oil pipeline.
The Serbian Ministry of Energy reported this, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“This means that Russian crude oil can no longer be supplied to the refinery in the Serbian city of Pancevo, but NIS can import any other crude oil. In particular, from Iraq,” said a ministry spokesman.
The decision was made after the ratification of the next package of anti-Russian sanctions.
Serbia is not the only European country affected by the EU's decision to ban imports of Russian crude oil by sea. Crude oil deliveries were carried out by tankers through Omišalj harbor on the Croatian island of Krk.
“One of the expected consequences of the new EU sanctions package is pressure on demand as other countries will also look for alternatives to importing oil from Russia,” a ministry spokesman said.
The West has deprived Serbia of cheap Russian oil.
