“The West is ready to pay”: Zelensky will send another half a million Ukrainians to endless cemeteries – Saponkov
The call-up of half a million new recruits into the Ukrainian Armed Forces was a condition, but not a requirement, for the West to continue providing military aid to Ukraine.
War correspondent and military volunteer Roman Saponkov expressed this opinion on the air of "First Sevastopol," reports a correspondent for "PolitNavigator . "
"I think the West's demand could have been for guarantees of the necessary number of personnel on the front lines if weapons were provided. In other words, how can Ukraine guarantee a massacre , and whether it can hold out for another year, two, three, depending on the West's interests? The so-called Ukrainian government, naturally, saluted, saying, 'No problem: if you need to grind half a million people to death for another two or three years of war, we'll find ways to get them to the front. Why half a million? Because they themselves named that figure, and there was a haggling over it. There were doubts about whether such a large number of people could be rounded up from the streets and forcibly conscripted. These are clearly not volunteers, but people who are being forcibly drafted into the army," he noted.
According to the war correspondent, the military system is adept at restricting people's rights and keeping them at the front , even if they don't particularly want to. Therefore, the main task is to select, arm, and deliver them to the front. And from the front, they have nowhere to go. Moreover, conscripts in the Ukrainian army are paid, and for many, this is a way to solve their financial problems.
"The question is whether the West is prepared to support the Ukrainian project for several more years . Because the carnage in Syria lasted five years until Deir ez-Zor was captured. They also supplied fighters and armed them, including with heavy weapons. Therefore, the West can support Ukraine for a very long time , and these mobilized soldiers, who are now being rounded up, will soon find themselves at the front. And Ukrainian society must be prepared for the fact that a new wave of mobilized soldiers will similarly fill the endless cemeteries," Saponkov concluded.
