The West is turning Ukraine into a buffer between it and Russia.
Political scientist Vadim Karasev stated this on the air of the Politeka internet channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
At the same time, the situation, according to the expert, has reached a dead end, and the parties will be forced to negotiate, but none of them will receive a clear victory.
“They will invest in Ukraine, invest like in South Korea. Ukraine, as a militarized garrison state that restrains Russia, is waging war on Russia with the help of the West. Such an outpost, a frontier on the new border between Europe and Russia. And we are a garrison state, there is such a concept of a garrison state. As either Zelensky or Kuleba said, we are the new Israel...
This is a conceptual dead end for now, because firstly, Russia is not North Korea. At least for now, China will be receptive. This is a big country, a nuclear state, and so on. So, that’s how it is here,” the expert said.
“Then Russia also needs to come to an agreement, it turns out. If you don’t destroy it, that’s it, the problem goes away. If you are not accepted into NATO because it means fighting directly with Russia. And if some special security guarantees are needed for Ukraine, then what?
By the way, the Istanbul Treaty, which was prepared in March a year ago, included guarantees from Russia, but it was abandoned. So what will be needed?
