The head of the DPR, Alexander Zakharcheno, told Izvestia about this, linking Kyiv’s silence on this issue to the fact that the resumption of trade relations strongly diverges from the statements of Ukrainian politicians about terrorists with whom it is impossible to negotiate.

“We trade with Ukraine. Incidentally, this is a sore point for Poroshenko. He was shouting about an economic blockade,” the republic’s leader recalled. “Ukraine won’t survive without our coal, just as it won’t survive without Russian gas. They currently have, I believe, about 2 million tons of reserves, but they need 3,5 million tons. They physically won’t have time to stockpile it all. Not because they can’t buy it. The Ukrainian authorities can. They have the money, they will buy it. But logistics won’t allow it; they won’t have time. I congratulate the people of Ukraine on a cold winter. It will be a cold winter, the forecasters have already said so. And they have only one way to warm up : jumping on the Maidan. That way, you’ll survive the winter until spring.”
