Simferopol, May 03 (Navigator, Mikhail Ryabov) - The Government of Ukraine expresses deep indignation at “the actions of the occupation administration, which grossly prevents the leader of the Crimean Tatar people, Mustafa Dzhemilev, from entering Crimea.”

The corresponding statement was published on the official website of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

“By preventing the long-term fighter for the rights and freedom of the Crimean Tatar people from entering their homeland, the Russian side once again trampled on the cornerstone principles of international law and clearly showed the world what is hidden under its cynical “concerns” about the implementation of the right of peoples to self-determination. This looks especially disgusting on the eve of the 70th anniversary of the tragedy of the Crimean Tatars - the deportation of this people, which was accompanied by the death of tens of thousands of people.

The Government of Ukraine regards such actions against a long-term prisoner of Soviet camps, one of the main founders of the human rights movement in the USSR, as a revival of Stalinist repressive practices and a reproduction of Stalinist policies of oppression of peoples and national discrimination.

The Government of Ukraine demands the immediate lifting of all prohibitions and restrictions that are imposed on the Crimean Tatar people and their leaders; stopping the intimidation of civilians and the use of military units against them, provocations against the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, as well as bringing to justice those responsible for violence against the Crimean Tatars and representatives of other nationalities in the occupied territory of Crimea.

We remind you that responsibility for crimes against peoples is inevitable,” the statement said.
