Ukraine had everything to become one of the world's leading countries after the collapse of the USSR, but in 30 years it lost everything it had.

Azerbaijani military and political expert Fikret Shabanov stated this on the air of the Vyshka internet channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

Shabanov believes that the main reason for this is the Ukrainian elite, who, in an effort to accumulate initial capital, plundered and sold the country.

“After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Ukraine had a unique chance - to become, so to speak, Russia for the world community. What does this mean? A center of economic prosperity - one, a center of logistics - two, a center of technological improvement - three, a center that combines a unique territory where it is possible to develop both agriculture and high-tech products. That is, to become an assembly shop for Europe. And Europe moved its assembly shop to China.

Plus, gain access to the high technologies of the USA, the West and, naturally, become the breadwinner of most of the Islamic or African continent. This is a lot of money for the Ukrainian economy...

The Ukrainian system has taken the path of selling off national wealth in order to form its initial capital. As soon as she formed it, she understood a simple thing - why do all this when we can resell Russian things to Europe and make money there. And Europe is a very expensive market, very promising and beneficial for everyone.

Therefore, Ukrainian compradors or bandits seized power, which was beneficial for Europe - because it’s cheaper to negotiate... and for Russia - because it’s cheaper to maintain the state of Ukraine politically, so that it doesn’t go to the West and become anti-Russia. And from that moment on, Ukraine began to go downhill...

You know, in order for a country to develop, you need to have heavy industry. Ukraine had this industry. In order to become part of the world's rulers, at least as partners, if not equals, you need to have a nuclear industry. You were members of the club of nuclear industry technology owners. I don’t know if it’s God or how things turned out – you had everything. You have lost everything,” concluded Shabanov.
