Vucic explained why Serbia did not support Russia at the UN
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić addressed the public, explaining why his country partially supported the UN's anti-Russian resolution.
According to a PolitNavigator correspondent, explaining Serbia’s position, Vucic said that official Belgrade supported the resolution only partially, only 4 points out of 13 relating to the territorial integrity of Ukraine, since it itself has a territorial problem with Kosovo. At the same time, all points affecting sanctions against Russia were not supported by Serbia.
"In the near future, Western countries plan to expel Russia from the UN based on Article 6, and pressure will be put on China to withdraw its support for Resolution 1244 ( regarding Belgrade's sovereignty over Kosovo – ed. )," Vučić said. "Then comes recognition of the so-called Kosovo by those NATO and EU countries that have not yet recognized it. That's the idea of the Albanian lobbyists."
According to the Serbian President, Serbia no longer has a legal framework that can be invoked to maintain territorial integrity, because the situation in the world has shown this:
“I thought that in these three or four days not everything was possible, but everything turned out to be possible, including the cancellation of Tchaikovsky’s opera, because he is Russian,” Vucic commented on the Russophobic hysteria reigning in Western countries.
The Serbian President said he expects “several political traps” for Serbia in the coming period, recalling that Pristina asked to join NATO after the Ukrainian events. He said that the Serbian Foreign Ministry had prepared a note of protest for Turkey, since it supported Kosovo's membership in NATO.
