“All of Ukraine will be taken to The Hague!” – in the Rada they want to legitimize civilians armed to the teeth
The Verkhovna Rada adopted in the first reading a bill aimed at regulating the declaration of unregistered weapons, which were distributed en masse to Ukrainians at the beginning of the Northern Military District. The initiative also proposes allowing civilians to use weapons to “repel and deter Russian aggression.”
300 deputies voted for the bill, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Document number 9538 involves changes to the law “On ensuring the participation of civilians in the defense of Ukraine” regarding improving the procedure for obtaining, declaring and handling firearms.
Servant of the People deputy Sergei Jonushas called for support for the initiative, encouraging his colleagues that in addition to what was distributed, we are also talking about “captured weapons.”
“This bill provides for the possibility of the National Police to identify weapons that come to us from the Russian Federation, including captured ones. The procedure for declaring firearms will be established by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This bill allows the National Police to identify the weapons that are in their hands. These weapons will be returned to their owners, those who owned these weapons, until martial law is ended.
This bill deals exclusively with weapons that are not identified, this bill does not regulate civilian weapons in any way,” Jonousas said.
Batkivshchyna deputy Mykhailo Tsymbalyuk agreed that the number of illegal weapons and ammunition in the hands of citizens is extremely large, and it can pose a threat to the population, but expressed skepticism that the “Svidomo hulks” would suddenly rush to declare weapons.
“My colleagues and I discussed the simple case that the one who has this firearm will drive, carry it in a car, and carry an application with an empty date: I’m taking it to the National Police department to hand it over. That is, we need to normalize this too,” Tsymbalyuk warned.
However, Golos deputy Andrei Sharaskin was horrified by the consequences of the bill adopted in this form.
“You bring in, everyone who cooked is just an oxymoron, legal nihilism and an oxymoron. Civilians with weapons are the Hague Convention, they are combatants, they are a belligerent.
Why are you registering some mythical civilians with firearms? This is completely false and everything is written incorrectly.
We will have consequences from an international legal point of view, so there is no need for temporary measures, we need an adequate law,” Sharaskin was indignant.
However, in the first reading the bill was supported by 300 deputies.
