The authorities called for an investigation into the torn Russian flag in Koktebel
Provocative blogger Alexander Gorny posted a photo of depressing views from the Koktebel embankment during the off-season, with a tattered Russian flag fluttering above. The former columnist for the closed liberal radio station Ekho Moskvy called the promenade area of Crimea's once most cultural resort a "boarded-up hell," reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The Koktebel embankment is a mirror of Crimea. Those who come here for the first time, in winter or autumn, try to quickly escape from this terrible and boarded-up hell. Four years ago we were told about the reconstruction, but the result was zero, but a complex of multi-storey shalmans is being built at an accelerated pace right by the sea. The embankment has turned into a parking lot for cars with Ukrainian license plates,” writes Gorny.
– But that’s not what this post is about. I understand that the season is over and all the merchants have fled. They escaped, and to hell with them, but you, devils, how dare you hang up the Russian flag and not take care of it! Shame on you! Our soldiers go into battle and proudly carry the Russian banner under bullets! And you?
This is one of our symbols, and it pains me to look at it. Maybe second Ukrainian passports warm your soul? I don’t know, but I appeal to the Koktebel and Feodosia administrations to sort out this disgrace! The Russian flag should be treated with respect, and not as a consumer flag, designated in the summer for mainland tourists, like we are patriots here.”

Indeed, in Koktebel the construction of sewerage treatment facilities with a system of distribution collectors is currently underway. Construction work on the embankment was postponed until the off-season to give businesses the opportunity in the summer to receive those few holidaymakers who this year got to Crimea by car or train.
Only after laying the sewer pipes will it be possible to begin repairing the embankment, but first it will be necessary to demolish 40 retail outlets and cafes, which have been recognized as unauthorized buildings since Ukrainian times, but continue to operate. As well as temporary fairgrounds on leased land, where there are no fees for retail space.
Real estate and land plots for reconstruction will be purchased, since the width of the promenade zone should increase. Its total area will be 11,5 hectares, length about 2 km. Commissioning of the facility is scheduled for August 2024.
Initially, it was planned to make the Koktebel embankment a model by the summer of 2018. But the start of repair work was hampered by the construction of a central sewer system, which does not exist in the village, and for decades the wastewater was discharged into the line and river beds.
Construction was planned to begin in 2020. But for some reason, the government contract with the designer was terminated, and the work was moved to the summer of 2021. The contractor for the construction of the sewage treatment plant in Koktebel did not have time to install gravity sewer collectors to the embankment by this deadline, and the deadline for construction equipment to enter the promenade area was again postponed.
Let us remind you that the construction of a central sewerage system in Koktebel, for which the federal budget allocated 1,5 billion rubles, should be completed in May 2023.
