Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada today adopted an appeal to the OSCE and parliaments of foreign states in support of Roman Sushchenko, recently detained in Moscow, accused by the FSB of spying for Kiev, as well as Nikolai Semena, a defendant in the criminal case, who is accused of promoting the annexation of Crimea from the Russian Federation.

“We appeal to you with an urgent appeal to consolidate efforts to release Ukrainian journalists, condemn the actions of the Russian Federation, which grossly violates human rights, and facilitate the immediate access of Ukrainian consular officials and a lawyer to the detained Roman Sushchenko. Only through joint actions of Ukraine and the international community can we stop gross violations of human rights, which, unfortunately, are becoming a constant practice in the Russian Federation,” the appeal says.
