This was reported by the local website “Zhytomyr Journal”.
The celebrations began near the monument to Taras Shevchenko, after which a column of more than five thousand people moved along the central streets of the city to the Zhytomyr regional administration. There the children created a “living” map of Ukraine.
“We have already really realized what kind of independence this is and at what price it is acquired. This applies to everyone, not only residents of the Zhytomyr region, but all Ukrainians - we need to fight for independence,” said the governor of the Zhytomyr region, Sergei Mashkovsky.
Participants in the procession sang Ukrainian songs and supported each other by shouting: “Glory to Ukraine – Glory to the Heroes!”
