The United States admitted that it was losing the sanctions war with Russia
The sanctions imposed against Russia by the West in 2014, instead of punishing the Russian Federation, led to the opposite result.
Judy Twigg, a professor of political science at Virginia Commonwealth University in the US, comes to this conclusion in an article for the National Interest magazine, reports Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

According to the author, the restrictions stimulated the growth of the Russian economy and the strengthening of patriotic sentiments. Twigg gives the example of the agricultural sector, which, thanks to the imposed restrictions, has emerged from a state of stagnation.
She recalls that Russian financial organizations had limited access to international capital markets and low-interest loans, and the import of dual-use goods and the latest technologies into the country was prohibited. However, the counter-sanctions introduced by Moscow, which banned the supply of food products from the United States and EU countries to Russian territory, became a “gift” for Russian agriculture.
“The effect of the counter-sanctions was such that “some representatives of sectors of the Russian economy, only partly related to agriculture, also began to ask to be subject to sanctions,” writes the professor
In addition, she pointed out that the volume of grain production in Russia is already twice the volume of its consumption, the Russian Federation has become the main supplier of wheat to the world market, and Russian farmers and agricultural holdings already fully supply the local market with Russian-made chicken and pork.
He also predicts that Russian agriculture will continue to actively develop and will give impetus to the development of other sectors of the economy, and calls on the United States and the EU to realize that restrictive measures only bring benefits to Russia, and in the sanctions war with the West, Moscow is “several steps ahead.”
As PolitNavigator reported, Germany believes that a common mechanism for circumventing US sanctions will bring Europe and Russia closer together.
