In the Rada, US senators were applauded like Brezhnev at the CPSU Congress
US senators unanimously supported a bipartisan resolution recognizing the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as “genocide of the Ukrainian people.”
Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy stated this during the plenary session, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Today, the Senate of the United States of America unanimously approved a bipartisan resolution recognizing the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as genocide of the Ukrainian people. This is a big historical decision. I believe that this is what partnership is when the historical memory of a friendly country is revered at such a high level. I am confident that after the Senate's decision, we will receive support in many other countries that were waiting for the decision of the highest US legislative body. This is recognition of our struggle for independence and the great tragedy of the Ukrainian people,” he said.
After the speaker's message, people's deputies stood up from their seats and began to applaud.
As a reminder, PolitNavigator previously reported that the Scottish Parliament also recognized the Holodomor as "genocide."
Meanwhile, in Babi Yar, unknown individuals posted leaflets calling for the killing of Jews and Roma.
