Moscow hopes to purge Ukrainian competitors
The package of Russian sanctions against Ukraine showed a careful approach to the issue on the part of the Russian government, since the list did not include companies that support Ukrainian citizens, plus there was room for maneuver.
Member of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Oleg Morozov stated this on Channel One, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The window must be left open.” It has already been said that we must have one more lever, one more opportunity, and maybe more than one, to increase this pressure. Laying out all your cards at once and hitting all the headquarters is not very tactically correct.
But the main thing is that we are implementing these sanctions, understanding how subtly and delicately this must be done. If you look at the list of companies, you can see that a significant part of them are companies that, through third countries, supply relevant products to our market that compete with ours. This is a normal approach to sanctions, this must be covered,” Morozov said.
“Then, on the lists are those citizens and those businesses that simply make money here, simply pump money from here. And in fact, we did not touch those enterprises that today support Ukrainian citizens, realizing that this is not profitable, including for us. It is this careful approach that has prevailed in the concept of today’s sanctions,” he added.
