In Kyiv, they are anticipating candidacy for the EU, looking with horror at the example of Bulgaria
In Ukraine, they are eagerly awaiting the status of a candidate for accession to the EU, anticipating huge financial investments from the Europeans.
Advisor to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Viktor Andrusiv said this on the channel of the Ukrainian blogger Yuri Romanenko, who was put on the wanted list of the Russian Federation for calls to kill Russian journalists, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Candidacy is not just a status. Candidacy is an EU obligation, so you understand. Our commitment is clear; when we were not candidates, we also had a million commitments. And candidacy is a situation in which the EU already has an obligation. He is obliged, if he gave you candidate status, to spend simply unrealistic money on you in order to bring you to the level of an EU member,” Andrusiv dreamed.
However, he cautioned that there are also tragic examples of countries that have joined the EU.
“There are opposite stories of joining the EU - this is Bulgaria. I’ll be honest – this anti-success is real. I go there, it’s actually a very sad story, they look poorer than Ukraine in many places, gas stations are so miserable.
The key story lies elsewhere. Bulgaria's accession to the EU led to the fact that the most progressive people, the top ones, professors, fled from there, their elite was very strong at universities, among the Bulgarians. They simply took advantage of this chance, left, and only the Boykovs, the mafiosi, remained there. This is an example of anti-success. I communicate with them a lot, they believe that the EU has led to the demodernization of Bulgaria,” added the adviser to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
Kyiv is looking forward to its EU candidacy, while looking with horror at the example of Bulgaria.
