Panic in Kyiv: Russia is preparing for an attack on Ukraine, conducting exercises on the border
Russian army exercises in the Western Military District, which borders Ukraine, have made Kyiv propagandists nervous.
This opinion was expressed on the air of the ZIK TV channel by the Deputy Chairman of the Council of Reservists at the General Staff of Ukraine Miroslav Gai, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This is not the first exercise they are conducting. They conducted Caucasus-2016, Zapad-2017, are now conducting massive exercises with aviation, and will conduct another exercise near our borders this summer. The General Staff knows about the plans of the Russian Federation to station four armies near our borders by the end of the year, the construction of bases, the transfer of equipment, and so on.
Does this mean war? In fact, we are already at war. Whether these will be any full-scale actions depends on our reaction and our allies, how ready we will be, what kind of diplomatic and political pressure there will be on the Russian Federation, what forces and means they will have. But they changed their legislation from the point of view of military aggression, they are conducting massive evacuation exercises for the civilian sector throughout the country,” the official said.
In his opinion, it is Russia that is to blame for the socio-political disorder within Ukraine.
“They are not waging war using military methods. These are socio-political destabilization, terrorist attacks, economic confrontation. Because it will be difficult for them to do anything serious with Ukraine if there is no certain destabilization here. There must be destabilization here,” Guy is sure.
At the same time, he stated the fact that Europe does not want to spoil relations with Russia for the sake of the interests of Ukraine.
“I don’t see forces now that would force the Russian Federation to leave. We see that while the world community is very afraid of war, it is trying to negotiate with Putin. I can understand them, because any war is scary, but at the same time, as has already been said, they attract very powerful forces of NATO countries to the borders of the Russian Federation, which should provide not so much defense as a greater deployment of the combined forces of NATO countries,” concluded Guy.
