Morozova clarified that one captured Ukrainian serviceman refused to return to the territory of Ukraine and chose to remain in the Republic.
Among the prisoners whom the Ukrainian side handed over to the Republic, there were many women. According to them, they were detained not for participating in hostilities, but for various protests in Ukrainian-controlled territory. Some of those who returned to Donbass could not hold back their tears during the exchange.
Prior to this, Kyiv attempted to disrupt the prisoner exchange by failing to close the road leading to the Mayorsk checkpoint in time. The verification procedure for the prisoners exchanged between Luhansk and Kyiv took place at the insistence of the Ukrainian side near the Mayorsk checkpoint. During the exchange of the first group of 16 prisoners, the Ukrainian side insisted that the exchange take place on its territory beyond the Mayorsk checkpoint.
At 16:00 the LPR and Ukraine completed the exchange process.
