In Belgrade, on Defender of the Fatherland Day, they talked about solidarity with Russia
In the capital of Serbia - Belgrade, in honor of Defender of the Fatherland Day, a wreath-laying ceremony was held at the Memorial to the Liberators of Belgrade in 1945 and at the New Cemetery at the Memorial Crypt to Russian soldiers who died in the First World War.
The Serbian edition of Radio Sputnik reported this, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The commemorative ceremony was attended by the Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Bocan-Harchenko and the representative of the Russian Minister of Defense, Major General Alexander Zinchenko, as well as the Chairman of the Belgrade Assembly Nikola Nikodijevic and the assistant to the mayor of the city Andrei Mladenovic.
Speaking after laying wreaths, Mladenovic recalled the gratitude that the Serbs feel for the large number of heroes who gave their lives in the joint struggle for the freedom of the Serbian and Russian peoples.
“This holiday applies to all Russian heroes who defended Russia, but we, knowing how important the Russian contribution was to the defense of Serbia and the Serbian people, are grateful that friendship and fraternal relations between the Serbian and Russian peoples have been woven into the common history of the last few centuries.
We are talking not only about the First and Second World Wars, but also about those volunteers who came to Serbia in the 19th century and helped in the liberation from the Ottoman Empire,” Mladenovic recalled.
On Defender of the Fatherland Day in Belgrade, solidarity with Russia was discussed.
