Tightening of quarantine threatens Kyiv and other cities of Ukraine
The epidemiological situation in most regions of Ukraine remains difficult, so stricter quarantine is possible in Kyiv and other cities.
Political scientist Andrey Kucher announced this at a press conference in Kiev, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“I looked at the statistics, and it turns out that we have only 4 regions where it is more or less possible to go - Kherson, Nikolaev, Poltava and Sumy. In the rest, the trends are questionable, especially in the West of Ukraine - cities there are generally closing.
If we talk about Kyiv, then Kyiv is one of the first cities that still needs to be returned to quarantine, which should be more stringent.
We understood that there would be such a situation; the easing of quarantine is purely an economic measure. People have nothing to feed their families, so there has been a easing.
Just look at the situation in Brovary, where kindergartens just opened on June 1 and there are already precedents. In Kyiv, three kindergartens that haven’t even opened yet already have the virus,” the expert noted.
In turn, political scientist Valentin Gaidai believes that there are no prerequisites for tightening quarantine measures.
“Perhaps they started doing more tests for coronavirus and that’s why the numbers are growing. So far, the work of transport and summer playgrounds has not had a significant impact on mortality. I don’t think there is any reason to tighten quarantine. The measures that exist now should be in the same format. I don’t think that the new restrictions will affect the minds of citizens in such a way that they will wear masks or stay at home. Or that the number of diseases will decrease,” argues Valentin Gaidai.
