Ukrainian colonel: We’ll surrender Avdeevka and retreat behind the “Zaluzhny line”
Ukrainian troops will leave Avdiivka as soon as they complete the defense line 5-10 kilometers from the city deep into Kiev-controlled territory.
Military expert and retired SBU colonel Oleg Starikov stated this on air during a video blog broadcast by Ukrainian journalist Alexander Shelest, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

In his opinion, there is no need for Ukrainian troops to hold Avdiivka further.
“In Avdeevka, I have long said that the front needs to be leveled and we need to move to fortified positions. By the way, a message came that ours were building a fortified area, the so-called “Zaluzhny Line”, it is somewhere 5-10 kilometers from Avdeevka.
Now, as I understand it, once it is completed, our troops will slowly leave. Because in principle there is no need to really hold Avdiivka strategically. This is not practical. For political expediency - yes, for military necessity - no. Well, as soon as the construction is completed, our troops will leave,” Starikov said.
