Kyiv, December 25 (PolitNavigator, Kirill Boyarin) – Blackouts in Crimea are Ukraine’s response to unfriendly policies towards the authorities in Kyiv, said Ukrainian political scientist Yuriy Romanenko.

According to him, Ukraine will pursue the same policy towards Crimea as Russia does towards Ukraine. In the meantime, coal supplies to Ukrainian thermal power plants are blocked from the Russian Federation, and electricity will be supplied to the peninsula intermittently.

“If Russia does not give us cars with paid coal, then why should we supply electricity to Crimea? Everything should be within the framework of parity. They cut off our oxygen, and we cut off theirs. Moreover, we do not use this lever at all in the same way as we could use it with electricity, products, and so on. If we have now cut off the electricity supply, then this can only be welcomed until the coal supply is resolved. The whole situation in relation to Russia towards Ukraine will be mirrored in relation to Ukraine towards Crimea. In fact, Russia gave an additional trump card of influence over it after the annexation,” said Yuri Romanenko.
