Ukrainian general: Nobody joins the army, we fail the draft
Young people of military age in Ukraine, instead of serving in the army, prefer to either go abroad or join nationalist formations to engage in crime.
Former Minister of Defense of Ukraine Alexander Kuzmuk stated this in an interview with TV channel 112, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I’ll be honest, I always thought and believed, and there were reasons, that we have great mobilization abilities, but, in fairness, the Donbass provided most of it. I mean the human part of mobilization abilities. Today is a problem. The problem is also the quality of staffing our armed forces. Because the patriotism that was there cannot be compared with today.
Take the call in Kyiv. 65 thousand subpoenas, but less than a thousand were summoned. No, they don’t really know the way to the military registration and enlistment office. The quality is appropriate. Some of them abroad are of the same age as the soldiers of the warring army need,” said the ex-minister.
“Take tens of thousands who walk through the markets, squeeze and whatnot, attack courts with threats and it’s all called differently, but everything is national there, I don’t even remember everyone - this is a private army. I look at them on TV - how many of them are dressed, equipped, your place is at the front!” – Kuzmuk was indignant.
