Ukrainian borscht will rise in price by 180% due to taxes and bad weather
Due to the cold spring, a drop in production and the abolition of VAT benefits, the price of borscht in Ukraine in October will rise by 180% compared to last year.

The head of the Association of Farmers and Private Landowners of Ukraine Ivan Tomich stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a Politnavigator correspondent reports.
“In July, I said that the borscht set will rise in price in October from 100% to 200% (compared to last year). Today I can say more clearly – 160-180%. Potatoes and cabbage are in the tens, 10-11 UAH per kg and a 240% increase in price compared to last year. the trend will be plus a few percent. We are a week away from October. Onions are catching up, beets and carrots are a little behind. The upward trend in prices for this group will be in small quantities until the New Year. The main reason is the decrease in the production of these crops. According to the Association of Farmers and Private Landowners of Ukraine, the production of potatoes will be less by 30%, onions - by 35%, beets - 25%, cabbage - 40-45%.
The second factor is spring, weather conditions. The third is taxes. UAH 24 billion was taken from all Ukrainian agricultural producers due to the elimination of VAT benefits,” he said.
