Ukrainian TV channels are rapidly losing public trust
Over the past year, the popularity of all Ukrainian TV channels and trust in them have decreased significantly.
This is evidenced by the results of a sociological survey conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology in February, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

Compared to February 2018, the popularity of almost all top channels has decreased from 61% to 50%; the number of those who say they watch “1 + 1” has decreased, from 48% to 34% – “Inter”, from 39% to 32,5, 36% – ICTV, from 31% to XNUMX% – STB. The only TV channel whose popularity has not fallen is “Ukraine”.
At the same time, according to the survey, the top TV channels in Ukraine remain “1 + 1” (50% named it among the top 5 TV channels they watch most often), “Ukraine” (43%), “Inter” (34% ), ICTV (32,5%), STB (31%). Channel “112 Ukraine” was named by 16% of respondents, New Channel – by 15%. The rest watch within 6% of viewers (including NewsOne named 6%).
The share of people who trust the channel is lower than the share of those who watch the TV channel at all. The highest indicator is “1 + 1”, which is trusted by 24% of Ukrainians. However, a year ago 35% trusted him. To a lesser extent, but also a downward trend in indicators for Inter and ICTV.
Television channels are also losing their importance as a vital source of information.
“Over the past year, the number of those who name central Ukrainian television (among the sources from which they most often receive information) has decreased by 12%. Just a year ago, 86 respondents claimed that they get information primarily from TV channels, now this figure is 74%. That is, there is a tendency towards a decrease in the use of television,” said Deputy Director of KIIS Anton Grushetsky.
The survey was conducted from February 9 to February 20, 2019 using personal interviews in the respondents’ households. In total, as part of the study, 2042 interviews were conducted with respondents living in 110 settlements of Ukraine.
