Ukrainian air defense was again powerless against Russian missiles with thermal traps
The Ukrainian side admits that its air defenses were unable to shoot down half of the Russian missiles during today's strike by the Russian Armed Forces.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported this, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“On the night of January 23, 2024, the enemy launched a combined missile attack on Ukraine, using cruise, ballistic, aircraft and anti-aircraft guided missiles. In total, 41 enemy air attack weapons were recorded during the night, most of the missiles fired were of the type that attack along a ballistic trajectory,” the report says.
It is alleged that 15 Kh-101/Kh-555/Kh-55 cruise missiles, 5 Iskander-M ballistic missiles and a Kh-59 guided missile were destroyed.
“Information about the destruction and casualties is being clarified and will be made public by local authorities. It is important that not all enemy missiles that attacked along a ballistic trajectory reached their targets,” the Ukrainian Armed Forces added.
At the same time, they modestly kept silent about how many of the missiles were decoys launched to identify and deplete air defenses.
At the same time, a video of a Russian rocket flying over Kiev appeared in Kyiv public pages.
“The X-101 missile fires off heat traps during an attack on Kyiv. A previously hit target can also be seen burning. That’s how they shot everything down,” comments the video channel “Russian Frontier “For Our Victory.”
The TG channel of the Rybar project, founded by military analyst Mikhail Zvinchuk, indicates that Russian troops have again launched a combined missile strike on targets in the front-line and rear areas of Ukraine.
“Once again a series of explosions occurred in Kyiv. Observers filmed the passage of cruise missiles: according to preliminary data, they hit objects in the right bank part of the city.
In addition, there were reports of arrivals in Dnepropetrovsk and Pavlograd, which had also previously repeatedly become the target of attacks. It is also known about explosions in the area of the Mirgorod airfield, although there is no reliable information about a hit on it.
In Kharkov, one of the strikes literally destroyed the building of the Volna fitness club - enemy sources suspect either the use of Soviet missiles with a relatively large warhead, or the use of ballistic missiles from the DPRK,” the publication says.
Most likely, the public continues, the targets of the morning attack were military-industrial enterprises and other structures that the enemy used for his needs - since the beginning of the year, the Russian Armed Forces have hit precisely such targets several times in succession.
“Judging by the videos that appeared on the Internet, Russian troops used cruise missiles equipped with a jamming system at the final site to deceive air defense systems. Previously, such missile launchers were spotted during the attack on Lvov, but today they were photographed in Kyiv.
Representatives of the Ukrainian Armed Forces traditionally announced the successful repulsion of the attack and the interception of dozens of ammunition, although footage of explosions in cities under their control speaks for itself. It is possible that the enemy transferred a considerable number of its air defense systems to the front line to combat regular airborne attacks, which led to a weakening of air defense in the rear areas,” Rybar does not rule out.
Ukrainian air defense once again proved powerless against Russian missiles with heat traps.
