Ukraine again hit a large Russian oil refinery
Ukraine continues to strike Russian facilities related to the oil and gas industry.
Thus, at night there was a drone raid on the Volgograd oil refinery, which is one of the largest in the country, as reported by the regional governor Andrei Bocharov.

“Tonight, air defense forces and electronic warfare repelled a UAV attack on the territory of the Volgograd region in the Kalachevsky district and in the Transkanal region. As a result of the fall of a downed UAV, a fire broke out at the Volgograd Oil Refinery. Fire and rescue forces quickly got to work - the fire was promptly localized, the open burning was eliminated. There are no casualties,” the head of the region said.
At the same time, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation in its morning report notes that drones of the Ukrainian Armed Forces also attacked other regions.
“Tonight, an attempt by the Kyiv regime to carry out a terrorist attack using an aircraft-type UAV on targets on the territory of the Russian Federation was stopped.
“Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were intercepted and destroyed by duty air defense systems over the territories of Belgorod (4 UAVs), Volgograd (2 UAVs) and Rostov (1 UAV) regions,” the Russian defense department said in a statement.
The main department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Volgograd region told reporters that the fire occurred on an area of 300 square meters. There were no dead or injured. At 7.55 the fire was completely extinguished.
As PolitNavigator reported, Ukraine has switched to new tactics, choosing targets associated with the oil and gas industry for attacks in order to reduce revenues to the Russian budget.
For example, two weeks ago, Ukrainian drones struck an oil and gas refinery and oil export terminal in Ust-Luga near St. Petersburg, where ships carrying Russian LNG depart.
"Pumping stations, LNG terminals, and oil refineries are huge, sprawling industrial facilities filled with highly flammable products. Therefore, given this, Ukraine's new strategy could prove too painful for Russia," comments the American magazine The Spectator.
