Ukraine never risked introducing a ban on coal imports from Russia
Kyiv has decided not to extend the state of emergency in the energy sector, which has been in effect since February following the blockade of coal exports from the DPR and LPR, Kommersant reports .

The publication recalls that back in March Kyiv was going to block the import of coal from the Russian Federation, fearing that coal from the DPR and LPR could end up in Ukraine, and it was planned to fill the deficit through supplies from Kazakhstan, Poland, South Africa and the USA.
However, a ban on the import of coal from the Russian Federation was never introduced, and in January–May, exports to Ukraine without coking grades amounted to 2,1 million tons versus 2,2 million tons a year earlier.
“According to the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, imports of coal for thermal power plants amounted to 996,8 thousand tons, including from the Russian Federation - 777,5 thousand tons (78% of the total volume), from Poland - 118,9 thousand tons (12%) , from South Africa - 100,5 thousand tons (10%),” writes Kommersant.
