Ukraine is terrified of the Hague Tribunal
Ukraine will never be able to summon Russia to the Hague Tribunal, because it itself is afraid of being accused of war crimes in the Donbass.

Political scientist Kost Bondarenko stated this on the air of the Ukrainian TV channel “112”.
“In order for the occupier to bear responsibility before the Hague Tribunal, it is necessary for Ukraine to ratify the Rome Statute. And we recognize it here, but we don’t recognize it here. We are afraid to appear before the Hague Tribunal ourselves. Not only the military, but also serious officials could face a tribunal. But they want to avoid responsibility when the war ends,” Bondarenko noted.
The Rome Statute is an international treaty that established the International Criminal Court in The Hague. Russia signed the statute on September 13, 2000, but did not ratify it until 2016. On November 16, 2016, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on Russia’s refusal to participate in the Rome Statute. Dmitry Peskov said that the withdrawal from the jurisdiction of the ICC was dictated “by national interests” and was “in no way connected” with the court’s decision on the “occupation of Crimea,” published the day before.
