Ukraine hopes to return Scythian gold
Ukraine hopes that Russia will lose the appeal in the Netherlands regarding the “Scythian gold” belonging to the Crimean museum.
Ukrainian Minister of Culture Yevhen Nyshchuk announced this at an international forum in Kyiv, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The collection of Scythian gold is now in Amsterdam. Literally in 10 days, on March 11, my colleagues and I will go to Amsterdam for the next appeal court. You know that back in 2017 we managed to win a successful trial, where a high international court determined that while Crimea is annexed, this collection of Scythian gold should return to the territory of Ukraine, to the mainland, for temporary storage.
It is clear that Russia, attracting large resources, has begun legal proceedings and appeals. This has been going on for about a hundred years now. We are constantly in the process, my deputy constantly travels to intermediate processes, and I hope that on March 11 we will have some clarity and understanding of when this process will end, when this collection can be brought to Ukraine and presented to the public,” he said Nishchuk.
