The publication recalls that on the ICTV channel, a Foreign Ministry official warned that in response to Ukraine’s actions, Russia may introduce a visa regime for Ukrainians, which threatens a mass exodus of Ukrainians to Russia with the transition to Russian citizenship.

“Intentionally or accidentally, Makeev hit the mythical picture of the world that had developed in the heads of Ukrainian “hawks”, conveyed the bitter truth about the destructiveness of the visa war, painting an inevitable and shameful picture: kilometer-long queues of Ukrainian guest workers at Russian visa centers,” the newspaper emphasizes. – Arguments about the lost 3-8 billion dollars in the form of remittances, the inevitable increase in unemployment, the concomitant worsening of the criminal situation, other rational arguments - nothing scares local patriots more than “Russian propaganda”, which makes talk about the heroic war of Kyiv with the “country” ridiculous -aggressor” and unanimous all-Ukrainian support for the government’s course of denying the very fact of Russia’s existence.

What’s scary for them is not that at least 1,5 million Ukrainians work in Russia and about the same number emigrated to the Russian Federation after the coup. What’s worse is that the truth hidden by the current visa-free regime will become clear, and this will be noticed in Europe, which is rapidly cooling towards the “young European democracy.”

At the same time, the publication notes that Kyiv is also afraid of closing its citizens’ path to Russia before Ukraine receives a visa-free regime with the EU.

“However, the “tourist” visa-free regime with the EU, which does not give the right to study and work - and this is precisely the limited format Brussels is considering for Ukrainians - will bring Ukrainians rather moral satisfaction. But it will not be able to replace the Russian labor market in the foreseeable future,” RG summarizes.
