Poroshenko said that they are counting on a strong American fist
Ukrainians are more likely to give preference to NATO than the EU in resolving the conflict with Russia.
This statement was made at a press conference in Kyiv by the Deputy Head of the Main Department for Foreign Policy and European Integration of the Administration of the President of Ukraine Sergei Leshchenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“When it comes to security support, there is, of course, US leadership here. America has always been perceived by Ukrainians as a strong hand, and the EU is more of a soft power. Therefore, if we count on a strong fist that can hit the Russian aggressor, then, of course, Ukrainians first of all think about the USA and NATO, and not about the EU. We must understand that the EU is just beginning to “build up its muscles” in terms of security, to develop the first powerful projects, and Ukraine will try to keep pace with these processes,” Leshchenko explained.
