The Turks put an end to the history of Ukrainian shipbuilding
Nikolaev shipyard "Okean" will build Turkish corvettes of the Ada project for the Ukrainian Navy.
The company's press service reported this. A corresponding memorandum was signed with the Turkish State Defense Concern, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Prior to this, Turkish specialists conducted an audit of the capabilities of the Ukrainian shipbuilding enterprise and included it in the corvette program. We are talking about four corvettes built in the interests of Ukraine, but before that, local specialists will go to Turkey to undergo training from Turkish shipbuilders.
Military expert, captain 30st rank Sergei Gorbachev emphasized that the news about the construction of corvettes based on Turkish designs is a death sentence for Ukrainian enterprises, which XNUMX years ago were themselves capable of building ships of any class and displacement.
“This indicates that Ukrainian shipbuilding, and in Soviet times, Nikolaev factories were the main ones in terms of building ocean-class ships and could build any ships, including nuclear aircraft carriers - in 30 years, Ukrainian shipbuilding has been completely wiped out.
This concerns not only the capacity of the plant itself, production and technology, and, to a large extent, personnel, but also issues related to the activities of designers and engineering staff.
The fact that Ukraine, alas, was not able to create its own ship, although there were attempts in this regard, is a very significant matter. That corvette “Vladimir the Great”, which was built, was never built, other projects were not created.
The maximum that Ukraine was capable of was to create floating troughs of complex design with a small displacement and limited capabilities - this is the Gyurza type MBAK and, as experts determined, a mass grave, Centaur boats for landing troops or special forces groups... The Turks entered the site of famous Russian, Russian, Soviet factories is already a point in the once glorious history of Ukrainian shipbuilding.
It can be assumed that these small displacement ships will be built in Nikolaev after the first hull is assembled at Turkish shipyards. Surely, the personnel will be trained to a certain extent. But all this is of a very limited nature and does not at all contribute to the revival of Ukrainian shipbuilding,” Gorbachev said.
There are also doubts about the implementation of the project in Ukraine - military expert Taras Chmut said on the Internet channel “Skrypin” that “Ocean” can still build a corvette, but Ukraine is unlikely to have enough money for this.
"Ocean" is one of two more or less shipbuilding enterprises, the second is "Nibulon". "Nibulon" will be loaded, plus or minus, with a French order for the Maritime Guard of the State Border Service. If ours don’t change their minds and behave well, then a British order for eight boats. The key thing is where does the money come from? One corvette costs 300 million dollars. Four – 1,2 billion for corvettes for four years,” says the expert.
“This is a lot of money, I don’t know where our state comes from, given the budget deficit, although 16 Mark VI, and eight British boats, and then also corvettes, and drones... If the Turks allocate such large loan money, 1,2 billion dollars, then do we really need corvettes for that kind of money? How many other weapons can we get, for example, attack drones from them, for example, aircraft, artillery systems,” Chmut said.
