Only a nationally changed Ukraine will be able to return Donbass – Karasev
The Ukrainian leadership, which abandons the federal structure of Ukraine and is trying to build a “unified” state, does not need the return of Donbass.
Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev said this on the YouTube channel “Politeka”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.

“We must fully decide the modality of our national construction, what it should be, and the modality of statehood.
If we can, so to speak, be a monistic nation, monistic national development - according to the logic of imitation of Eastern Europe, then there are a lot of problems, because if we were taken into NATO, then we would be protected. And then Donbass is not needed,” he said.
However, Vadim Karasev is confident that the implementation of the Minsk agreements and the return of Donbass to Ukraine will change the entire political structure of this country.
“Just the return of Donbass, reintegration under the Minsk agreements, it changes the modality of the state and changes the modality of nation-building. This is again a return from the monistic to the pluralistic concept of nation and state, where there is a multi-component state, and the idea of consociational democracy, not federal, arises.
Consociational democracy, when power is formed not by one center and one view, but by a more diverse view of Ukraine. And then the questions and contradictions between Russia and the United States, Russia and Europe are removed,” the political scientist explained.
