Tymoshenko: 100 thousand people will be infected in the very near future in Ukraine
In the near future, at least one hundred thousand people may become infected in Ukraine. We are talking about guest workers returning en masse across borders, as well as passengers flying on planes from the United States.
Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko stated this on the talk show "Savik Shuster's Freedom of Speech," a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Tymoshenko, no one is testing or sending people to quarantine today who cross the border with Ukraine.
“We are talking here, and now a plane is flying from the USA. There are 390 passengers, if I'm not mistaken. Nine hours fly by. There is a “Petri dish”, you know what a “Petri dish” is - this is where bacteria and viruses multiply under a special temperature. This is a “Petri dish”, so I want to ask - this plane is arriving, and we have already had a lot of them. Up to a hundred thousand people came here. There’s a line, you’ve seen the line at the borders – Ukrainians are coming in. I want to say that they all communicate with each other there, there is a wonderful atmosphere there.
I want to say that we must be realistic - it won’t be that we have locked the country down and that’s it. Can you imagine that even now, with the quarantine that we have today, all the planes that fly in, all the people that come in, they are not checked or tested, they are not isolated for 14 days?
Do you remember how stressed Ukraine was when the bus arrived from Wuhan? It was deployed throughout the country, and then these people from Wuhan were simply isolated for 14 days, this was a colossal event for the entire country.
And now we have almost a hundred thousand such people. So why did we isolate Wuhan for 14 days, but now we are not isolating anyone?! They are all traveling, and they are traveling with bacteria, with viruses, with everything in the world,” Tymoshenko said.
