A resolution has been submitted to the American Congress demanding the expulsion of Russia from the UN Security Council.
The American publication Foreign Policy reports this, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Two American lawmakers, Democrat Steve Cohen and Republican Joe Wilson, have submitted a resolution to Congress calling on President Joe Biden to expel Russia from the United Nations Security Council,” the publication writes.
Both politicians are members of the bipartisan Helsinki Commission, which in October called on US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to protest against the status of the Russian Federation as a permanent member of the UN Security Council.
However, it is noted. that "experts remain skeptical about the feasibility of such a possibility."
In addition, the author of the publication emphasizes that the UN Charter does not contain any provisions on the removal of a permanent member of the Security Council.
