The Security Council approved amendments to the law on martial law
Kyiv, February 18 (PolitNavigator, Alexandra Ignatieva) – Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Alexander Turchynov said that the National Security and Defense Council approved the proposal of the President of Ukraine to amend the law on martial law.

“Given the danger that exists in the state today, and the constant violation by Russian-terrorist groups of the peace agreements that have been reached, one of the first points of this decision is the adoption of changes to the law on the legal regime of martial law,” Turchynov said following the meeting of the National Security and Defense Council .
“The fact is that the law on martial law was adopted many years ago and, unfortunately, when the law was adopted, it was unlikely that it would ever be applied.
Considering the real danger that the country faces today, we must be prepared for any development of events even in the worst scenario... detailed changes regarding this law have been worked out so that it can work effectively,” Turchynov noted.
In addition, he emphasized that local authorities should address issues of civil protection, in particular shelter facilities.
