Sevastopol, June 17 (Navigator, Olga Nikolaeva) – The appearance of visas created inconvenience, but did not interrupt the scientific cooperation of scientists from the Tauride Chersonese National Reserve with their European colleagues.

Nikolai Alekseenko, an employee of the Chersonese Tauride National Reserve, director of the branch of the Genoese fortress Chembalo, stated this on STV.

According to him, scientific ties have not been broken, an example of this was the two scientific conferences held in Chersonesus, although not all foreign representatives made it.

“Today it can be difficult to get there. For example, the Poles bought tickets to Kyiv, but were unable to get to Sevastopol; the tickets were returned. The appearance of visas this year created inconvenience, but did not frighten people,” Alekseenko said.

“The political situation has not had much impact on interpersonal relationships between scientists. Scientists are above political ambitions and politics. This is a completely different caste of people who do not react to political changes; your scientific level is valued there,” added scientific secretary Natalya Ginkus.

Scientists hope that international projects with Poland and work on a joint grant with Romania will be continued.

They also recalled that in past years, two Polish expeditions were carried out on excavations in the 45th and 55th quarters of Chersonesos and in the suburbs of Balaklava on excavations of a Roman camp together with the University of Warsaw.

Chersonese also had joint projects with the University of Krakow at the level of scientific conferences.
