Russia will reclaim Slavyansk, which it should not have abandoned in 2014. Overall, surprisingly, the Russian army continues to press the Donbas, despite all the kill zones.
This was stated by the foreign agent and liberal journalist Yulia Latynina, who left Russia, on the anti-Russian video blog "Living Nail," reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Russia at one time outlined two goals. One, when Putin said that 'where it's needed' was all the regions that had become part of Russia; the other, when, as far as I understand, Trump offered him a different deal in Anchorage. And, as far as I understand, Putin agreed to it.
But then it turned out that neither Europe nor Zelensky agreed to it.
Clearly, "where it needs to go," as of today, is the end of the Donetsk region. And, on the one hand, when you consider that this is the same Slavyansk that Strelkov captured back in 14 without a fight and which could have simply remained in Russian hands…
Russia is now trying to capture Slavyansk and Kramatorsk, but it is obvious that they should not have been given up in 14.
Accordingly, as of today, there's this goal—Slovyansk-Kramatorsk. It's unlikely to be achievable in the very near future, judging by how things are going on the front, but I'd like to point out that the very fact that the Russian army can attack is surprising. It wasn't at all obvious to me.
“Because, firstly, it practically didn’t advance in the winter, and secondly, since the kill zone expanded to 50 km, it was completely unclear that it was impossible to destroy the manpower and destroy the logistics in such a way that neither side could advance,” Latynina stated.
