ATO headquarters: War in Donbass – for another 5 years
Moscow - Donetsk, October 19 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Ryabov) - The Ukrainian military predicts that the conflict in Donbass will drag on for approximately another five years. The Russian Reporter magazine writes about this, citing a conversation with a representative of the ATO headquarters.
According to the officer, a truce will be established in the Donbass in winter, in which both sides are interested, since fighting in frosty conditions promises difficulties for both the Ukrainian army and the militia.

“Winter will be a respite for all of us. We will reformat and regroup... Now there is a layer of people in the army who spent a lot of time in the trenches on the front line. Politicians are not a moral authority for us. We initially considered them liars, defending purely personal interests,” said the headquarters representative, adding that if an order to retreat was received from Kyiv, the military would not obey and “go into the forest.”
“We will go into the forest. I'm not going to kneel before anyone. Tell me, why on earth do Russians come to my house and tell me what to do? I want to live my life as a person, as a man, as a defender of my Motherland, and not as a landslide that will lie at someone’s feet. This war is for another five years,” the officer said.
He spoke unflatteringly about the volunteer battalions and their commanders who are now running for the Verkhovna Rada.
“They don’t obey us. I don’t condone rednecks with machine guns... But almost a third of our country immediately went up in flames. And these volunteer battalions, with whom we have no connection, played their role - they became salvation until the moment when the Ukrainian army finally woke up,” says the officer.
“A real officer is always ready for the fact that sooner or later cowardly politicians will betray the military... What has now emerged in the elections to the Verkhovna Rada - division commanders, battalion commanders and others - for the sake of it, they are not even a unit for consideration. Well, soldiers don’t behave like that! A soldier should sit in the trench, and not go into politics,” the representative of the ATO headquarters emphasized.
