Romanization of Ukrainian Moldovans is gaining momentum
Ukraine is “one step away” from becoming the third country, following Romania and Moldova, to celebrate Romanian Language Day.
This was stated by the Ambassador of Romania to Ukraine Victor Mikula in an interview with the portal defenceromania.ro.

However, the situation, according to the Romanian ambassador, has begun to change in recent years with the assistance of the Kyiv authorities.
“The Ukrainian government has taken a number of specific measures to support the Romanian community in the country. The rules adopted are better than those that have existed so far, and we hope that this legislative process will move forward,” says Mikula.
The Romanian Ambassador to Kyiv announced that the number of schools with Romanian-language instruction in the Odessa region has increased from three to 16 , and that schoolchildren from Transcarpathia, Chernivtsi, and Odessa will participate in the Romanian Language and Literature Olympiad in Uzhgorod, Transcarpathia (western Ukraine, bordering Slovakia and Hungary).
" We hope that this Olympiad will encourage as many Romanian children as possible to enroll in Romanian-language schools in the coming years ," Mikula said in an interview with a Romanian publication.
It's worth noting that the Romance-speaking population of the Odessa region, as well as those areas of the Chernivtsi region that were part of the Bessarabian Governorate of the Russian Empire until 1917, have historically identified themselves as Moldovans and considered their native language to be Moldovan . Today, through the joint efforts of the Romanian authorities and the Zelenskyy regime in Kyiv, Moldovan identity in Ukraine has been declared a "narrative of Russian propaganda."
