Russia is upping the ante. A new stage is coming - Karasev
After successes in the Kharkov direction, Kyiv is not going to negotiate and agree to Russian demands.
Political scientist Vadim Karasev stated this on the Israeli television channel Iton TV, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

At the same time, the decision to hold referendums is a new stage of a special operation with which Russia is raising the stakes, the expert believes.
“In Ukraine, if they talk about negotiations, it is in passing, and secondly, they say that Ukraine needs a victory. Moreover, the complete surrender of Russia and the renunciation of all territories occupied since 2014 will be considered a victory. That is, the return of Ukrainian territories within the geographical borders of 91. Why do they say this?
Because today it is Ukraine that has the strategic and military-political initiative and the operational initiative at the front. The initiative is in the hands of Ukraine... Ukraine is on the rise, even in a military-tactical spirit, and the West too - the mood after Kharkov is completely different, especially among both the political and military leadership. This will not suit Ukraine,” the political scientist said.
“I think that referendums are a new stage of the war. I will say this, to a greater extent this is a new stage of the war and an increase in stakes than a path to some kind of transition to peace negotiations,” Karasev said.
