Russia is preparing for negative scenarios in Ukraine: the Vostok-2014 strategic exercises will begin suddenly and without announcing the legend

The scenario of these maneuvers will not be known in advance to their participants, and the location will allow the involvement of all types of troops. When and where the exercises will begin is also a secret. The head of the Main Directorate of Combat Training of the Russian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Ivan Buvaltsev, clarifies that the exercises are planned “taking into account the military-political situation.”
The scenario of these maneuvers may be such that groups of troops, for example, will be redeployed from the Far East and Siberia to the center and southwest of Russia in order to strengthen the border with Ukraine. The possibility of such actions is confirmed by Buvaltsev’s words that Vostok-2014 will involve troops not only of the Eastern Military District (VMD), but also of the Airborne Forces, Long-Range Aviation - all types and branches of the military, says military expert Lieutenant General Yuri Netkachev.
The publication recalls that, according to the Chief of the Russian General Staff, Army General Valery Gerasimov, “the strategic command and staff exercise Vostok-2014 is planned for September of this year.”
“Kyiv announces revanchist plans - the possibility of returning the peninsula under its protectorate, and NATO forces have concentrated in Poland, the Baltic countries and the Black Sea region, that is, near the borders of the Russian Federation. Under these conditions, it seems that the main military exercise of the year may begin, firstly, earlier or later than the period of time named by General Gerasimov (September of this year). Secondly, the army and navy will be subjected to new training tests. Their distinctive feature will be even greater mobility, the ability to build up forces and means of armed struggle in threatened regions, the use of high-precision weapons and the use of a large number of personnel units, including peacekeeping contingents,” says Colonel Eduard Rodyukov, corresponding member of the Academy of Military Sciences.
