In the southern direction, the Russian army prepared and lured the Ukrainian Armed Forces into a trap, forcing them to storm well-fortified positions.
Military correspondent Marat Khairullin stated this on the PolitWera internet blog, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Armed Forces of Ukraine entered Staromayorskoye, they were smashed, they rolled back. Now let's see how they will enter Urozhaynoe. Because from the point of view of battles, Harvest is more difficult. That’s why the Ukrainians didn’t go to Urozhaynoye, to this ledge from the very beginning - they knew that there would be very heavy fighting there. Ours made this village as a trap for the Ukrainians.
And since the Ukrainian Armed Forces were unable to bypass through Staromayorskoye, they are being driven into this trap, they are forced to break through this Urozhaynoe head-on,” Khairullin said.
He noted that the offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is even beneficial for Russia - it makes it relatively easy to destroy more enemy forces.
“The Ukrainian offensive must continue, it is beneficial for us.
Therefore, I would not be surprised if our people at the General Staff decide to give up some positional area. Let’s say the General Staff donates Staromayorskoye or Urozhaynoe to encourage the Ukrainians to continue moving forward at this pace. Let’s just say they threw out bait,” summed up the military correspondent.
