If mass unrest and civil war break out in Kyrgyzstan as a result of the coup, Russia will have to intervene in the situation to resolve the conflict.

International observer and journalist Maxim Yusin stated this on the PolitWera internet channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

According to Yusin, Russia is responsible for those territories that were once part of a single state with it, and therefore should not allow the growth of extremist sentiments in Kyrgyzstan.

“Whether we want it or not, we are responsible for the same Kyrgyz people who do weird things like this, overthrow the president, and put yesterday’s prisoner in the post of prime minister. But, if, God forbid, in the south of Kyrgyzstan they say: “Guys, what is this, northerners - firstly, there are fewer of you, and secondly, we won the elections, after all. Have you imprisoned your own and will you manage us here?” And some kind of rebellion will arise. And also some Islamists, who have not disappeared from the region, will try to take advantage of this, who will restore order? And for us,” said Yusin.

Earlier, the head of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, Konstantin Kosachev, stated that Russia sees no grounds for interfering in the political situation in Kyrgyzstan.

Stanislav Pritchin, a senior researcher at the Center for Post-Soviet Studies at the Institute of World Economy and International Relations (IMEMO), noted that calls for secession from the north are being heard in the south of the republic. This rift deepened further following the parliamentary elections, when only four southern parties passed the threshold.
